Payroll Customer Support Specialist

Payroll Office of America (POA - a division of Insurance Office of America [IOA]), is a mid-sized payroll service bureau growing at a rapid pace.

Summary
: We are looking for a customer support specialist in a payroll service bureau setting. Individual must have knowledge of all aspects of payroll, FPC or CPP preferred. Individual is responsible for assisting clients with use of our system, processing client payroll, and any additional duties as needed. Individual must be organized and detail-oriented. Excellent communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and be able to work under pressure.
 

  • Assists clients with needs, requests and problems via telephone or email in a timely manner
  • Responsible for company set up and company conversion reconciliation
  • Collects client data and processes timely, accurate payrolls for assigned clients.
  • Records changes affecting net wages in many areas such as exemptions, insurance coverage and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
  • Records changes affecting demographic and employee census information
  • Records changes affecting special client requests such as delivery instructions or invoice edits
  • Prepares reports for clients, such as time off accrual, periodic reports of earnings, taxes, deductions and report writers
  • Ensures that all internal controls are followed for accuracy of payroll
  • Operates all department equipment
  • Understand payroll taxes
  • Assists with SB client tasks and requests as mentioned above. This may also include but is not limited to:
    • ACH returns
    • Reviewing submitted payrolls for accuracy
    • Approving payrolls


Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum 2 year degree

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years payroll background

Skills:

  • Ability to learn and understand payroll processing software within a reasonable time frame
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent customer relation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
  • Must have the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and procedures within orientation period
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively
  • Ability to choose the right mathematical method or formula to solve a problem
  • The ability to listen to and understand the information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths, and weaknesses of alterative solutions, conclusions or approaches to a problem
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate results to choose the best solutions and solve problems on complex issues
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to handle the stress of short time constraints
